ZST architects has volunteered to assist with the architectural services for a charitable cause in Tanzania. Our Senior Architect Mohna Jolly will be carrying out a feasibility study for a site of a former hotel near Arusha,Tanzania. Mohna went to visit the site last week where the new 'Ahimsa Centre for Social Development and Wellbeing' will be proposed.
Sustainability is high on the agenda and ZSTa is looking forward to the challenge of realising the new centre on a low budget in conjunction with local firms and the client.
The week was packed with site visits, meeting with a local architect, looking at architecture in the area, talking to organisations, surveying some of the key buildings to be retained and lots of discussion among the team on site, carefully watched by the Colobus monkeys.
It was great for the team to stay on site in two of the existing lodges which have been renovated by the client. This way there was plenty of time to wander around and take in the sounds of the nearby river, monkeys, birds and all manner of other beautiful wildlife.
After a hard weeks work Mohna was able to join a Safari to the Ngorongoro crater to watch the amazing wildlife and has returned to the UK full of inspirations and ideas for the project.
We are all looking forward to being part of the Ahimsa project and working collaboratively with such a great team to deliver on a worthy cause.
