Great British Beach Clean in Brighton on Monday 18th September 2017

Calling for volunteers to join Brighton's Great British Beach Clean weekend on Monday 18th September.

ZST architects (ZSTa) are working with the support of Brighton and Hove City Council Cityclean and joining The Marine Conservation Society (MCS) in The Great British Beach Clean weekend. We will be facilitating a clean-up staring at The Palace Pier on Monday 18th September 2017 starting at 8am/8:30am.

Litter on our beaches is unsightly. There’s no pleasure if you have to pick your way through plastic bottles, cotton bud sticks and polystyrene food containers before you go for a paddle. But rubbish on our beaches is also a hazard for wildlife with hundreds of species accidentally eating litter or becoming entangled in it. Our most loved marine life is under threat from the waste and litter in our sea and on our beaches. We all have to play a part in turning the tide on litter to keep our beaches and waters clean.

This year volunteers will start at the Palace Pier on Monday 18th September the clean normally lasts for 3 hours but you are welcome to stay as little or long as you wish. Brighton and Hove Cityclean will supply litter pickers, bags and gloves on the day, but if you have your own set of gardening gloves they would be useful, dress appropriately for the weather with sturdy footwear.

Volunteers are being asked to register with MCS or by emailing

The Beach Clean is a great event and it is such a worthwhile cause making our beach more habitable for us and the wildlife. We all get rather competitive with the most litter collected and hunting for the most unusual piece of litter found. We at ZST architects are passionate about our city and are fortunate to be in a position to support and organise these clean ups with the help of local communities
